Pretty solid statement Rokko. Because American cars in the past have handled like oceanliners, lots of our friends across the pond thank that we still build cars like we did in the 50's and 60's,lol. Times change, and so does the way cars are built. I would never put down a car just because it isn't something that wasn't built here, or because my friends cousins sisters boyfriends uncle drove it and didn't like it. It's cool to have an opinion about something, but when blasting something, base it on personal experiance or some set of factual evidence.

I'm just saying that handling isn't a quantifiable figure, like a skid pan number or laptime. I never said that the car is a straight line only machine or not-fun.

When I read the reviews which actually say that the handling is very good and that there is feel through the wheel then I'll go "woo" but the fastest car in the world wouldn't set my world alight if it was like steering with boxing gloves on.

Still the best thing to come out of the USA (unlike the bloody SRT Viper ) since the last one.

The main problem i have with this car is that it doesn't even hint slightly at being related to the original stingray. (which in my eyes is one of the most beautiful cars ever made)

On the whole "American cars handle like sh!t", I've got to say, driving a Mustang has been one of the highlights of my driving life! Tbh, I'm not sure what spec it was, but it sounded absolutely epic when I opened it up! Pulled like a train, and didn't seem bad at all when I took it for a spirited drive I managed to get around a few corners without ending up in a tree! lol...

As much as I love my Type-R, it hasn't put a smile on my face yet as big as the 'Stang did... Actually, even when I drove an Audi R8, and don't think it had the same effect :-)

Oh, and on topic, that Stingray looks mean as fook! I'd have one.

63-67 are some of the coolest and best looking vettes ever made. If I had a dream car it would be an L88 67 vette or a ZL1 67 Vette. That stinger hood on the 67's is flat wicked.

So... anyone know why race cars of that class always seem to have yellow headlights?

Endurance racing.

The LMP classes have white headlights while the GT classes have yellow so when you're racing at night you can tell which class the car behind you is in (and by extension how fast it's likely to be going).

Brake specs sound a bit odd, new chassis claim 50/50 weight balance but has larger discs on the rear than the front?? although probably this has something to do with extra unsprung weight on the rear being the drive axle.......but c'mon yanks when are you gunna realise how faster a car with proper stopping power is, I mean really, twin pots over 320mm discs, my 97 3 series coupe 1.9 is running that stock???

He he he, just watched the vid in the op, made me chuckle how he pointed out the excellent ground clearance as opposed to European cars of this genre, but then grounded it out pulling off the display plinth in the showroom..........

Specs are all fine and good, let see what it does on the track. Depending on what track they test it on. I see a trip to the ring tbh.

I would be interested to see it tackle such a technical track, really hoped the engineers have embraced the concept of balancing power and speed with response and handling.........but alas with the muscle cars track record of all loud pedal with zero finesse I somehow doubt it, but I wait with baited breath..........

So basically persecute the son for the sins of the father, that's the general thought process? You guys are tough. This car could go to the Topgear test track and produce a great time, and still there would be something that could be found wrong. I'm glad I'm a little more open minded and less jaded than most I guess

I hope the engineers have embraced the concept of fun regardless of laptimes. Let the racing car go around the tracks fast and let the road car with the silly huge V8 be appropriately entertaining on real roads.

Agreed, just need the cars to prove us wrong. I for one would love to see more US cars make it around corners rather than be missles down the straightaway's

Cant be the sound of an old school V8 lets hope this sounds as good

All Marques have their own heritage, their own DNA, their own blood lines from their predessors, hoping this car to be nimble is like hoping the next ferrari is gunna have a big boot(trunk)and space for baby seat in the back, you just know its not.....and as people have said that's not what people want from a yank muscle car, they want it to be a beast that requires driving and puts a smile on ur face......

I think the thing with Muscle cars, is they are kind of lost on British roads, they are only any good in American, big wide roads, there's a guy around the corner from me who has a Mustang C400, and while I can't help but drool over it, it kind of looks ridiculous driving down my street.

That makes sense. I used to work next door to a place that sold exotic cars. He had a Lotus Elise, it was a cute little thing, but would be useless on most roads around here.
