Trevor's Challenge (Sunday series)

As there was a bit of interest in this last night and we don't appear to have anything lined up for Sundays before FM5, thought I'd run this as a short series.

CALENDAR
Week 1 (20th October) - Motegi East & Full
Week 2 (27th October) - Suzuka East and Full
Week 3 (3rd November) - Infineon Nascar and Long
Week 4 (10th November) - Bernese Alps Club and Festival

PRIZES

No prizes for this one - seems a bit pointless considering it finishes a mere 12 days before FM5 comes out.

CARS

This car is a fixed build TVR Sagaris. You may tune the car as you wish.

THE BUILD

Engine
All stock apart from:
Sport Air Filter
Sport Fuel System
Sport Exhaust
Race Cams
Race Flywheel

Platform & Handling
All Race parts

Drivetrain
All Race parts

Wheels
Stock rims
Race compound
Widest tyre width available

Aero
Forza Front & Rear

That should give you a PI of S699

SIGN-IN PROCEDURE

The sign in thread will go up approximately five or six days before the race. Each competitor should sign into this thread. The OP in the sign-up thread will show the maximum PI available to each driver for that week - you do not have to build your car to the maximum PI but it is recommended.

If a driver is unable to race in any one week, he should sign "out" in the sign-in. The driver's PI will remain the same for the following week.

Sign-in will close at 7pm on the day of the race. Drivers failing to sign in by 7pm may still be able to race subject to the organiser's discretion (which will be based mainly on the availability of lobby spaces - I'm aiming not to exceed 14 in a lobby to avoid instability). Drivers signing out may nominate their skipped car for that week up to the 9pm race start.

RACE NIGHT PROCEDURE

The host should aim to have the lobby up and running by 8:40pm at the latest to allow time for all competitors to enter the lobby. Qualifying will start at 8.45pm, or earlier if all competitors have entered the lobby. Any racers entering the lobby after qualifying has started will be required to start the race from the back of the grid.

Qualifying will be in the one-shot (Superpole) format. This means that qualifying will only last for two laps - one outlap plus one qualifying lap. You will be required to decertify your outlap to ensure that only your qualifying lap counts. To avoid numptyism, it is strongly recommended that you decertify your outlap prior to the last sector. The driver with the fastest qualifying lap will be noted by the host to allow the assignment of the bonus points.. Qualifying takes place on the same track as Race 1.

Race 1 will last for approximately 15 minutes. No pitting is required. The race will have a standing start based on lobby points.

Race 2 will last for approximately 30 minutes. Again no pitting is required. This race will have a standing start based on reverse lobby points.

LOBBY SETTINGS

INCIDENTS

An incident on Lap 1 which results in 2 or more cars losing more than 500ft to the rest of the pack will see a safety car procedure put in place. After this, an incident (however major) will not disrupt the racing.

SAFETY CAR PROCEDURE

As stated above, the safety car will be used during the first lap of a race.

The lead car will lead the pack around at a safe, steady speed not exceeding 50mph until the entire field is in line. Cars should maintain a safe distance to the car in front and should not engage in weaving or sudden acceleration of braking as this is likely to lead to accidents. Any drivers making a pit stop under safety car conditions must rejoin the field at the back of the pack.

When the last driver has caught up with the pack, he should advise the pack of a time at which racing should commencce. It is recommended that this time is at least 15 seconds from the time the pack has bunched up to allow full communication to the field.

PENALTIES

In addition to any penalties imposed by the stewards, the following set penalties will be operating:

Failure to decertify qualifying outlap - Driver moved to back of grid. The driver in question will be required to safely make his way to the back of the grid prior to the rolling start.
Failure to finish race - Driver awarded last place finish. In the event of more than one DNF, places will be awarded in order of driver's leaving the lobby.

For all penalties, the stewards may look at amending or overriding the standard sanction if it is felt there are unusual circumstances.

POINTS
In the event of there being more than one lobby, there will be a 10 point bonus for each lobby below the lobby drivers are in, with the exception of week 1. For week 1, lobbies will be drawn at random. Subsequent weeks will be determined by the average points method. Points per race will be as below.

There will be no dropped scores in this championship.

Drivers
Spiny
Milton (Maybe)
Pepsi
Shanklin
Smokin

I need to tune it first, but once I've got mine finalised I'll post the tune up on here. Initial results look good - 1:17.0 around Cat Nat in test drive which is quicker than my fastest time there to date.

Best I could get was 1:17.033 on test drive cat national. I thunk with a proper tune to help tame the power I would be faster and also on used 2nd and 3rd mainly used 4th for the straights. I would think I could go faster with less power .

Well, the build is as grippy as possible, and the power isn't that high (less than 500bhp so less than some of the V8's). But it is very light at 23xx lbs, which helps give it good times but does mean it can be a little skittish. STM is banned, but you can always use TCS if you're chicken you wish.

Won't deny that, but they are at least driveable, and TCS is available for anyone who wants it.

Incidentally, it occurred to me that Silverstone and Suzuka are quite similar, so I've replaced Silverstone with Bernese Alps. Hate the track, but it is one which I think the TVR should quite like.

Try this as a starting point. 3 flying laps at Cat Nat in test drive and the best was 1:16.3, although the splits say I left at least 0.3s on the table.

Incidentally @Milton, you need stock rims for the series.

Fixed build....... The way for a physics are silly, drivetrain weight is not the same as wheel weight. Unsprung weight in wheels vs less drivetrain power loss.

Just to confirm this. The build must be as shown.

John's right about the differences in the weight too, a drop in weight in the drivetrain has a different effect to the drop in weight in wheels so, although the differences between the two are very, very small, they are present.

If you want to see the effect of drivetrain, park a low-powered car in neutral and rev the engine, first with stock drivetrain then again with race drivetrain. Now add in the race flywheel and the effect will be even more pronounced. The changes to the wheels are harder to detect since they affect the handling of the car, and so can be drowned out to a significant extent by tuning or other parts. But check the Benchmark figures with Dubs rims and Buddy Club rims - you may see 0.01 or so difference in cornering g.
