New GT Academy

GT Academy (EU) 2011 Starts with , Free Car

Quote:
GT Academy officially returns to Europe today, with a new, custom “Eifel” track specially designed for the competition by Kazunori Yamauchi himself. Participants will be piloting a Nissan 370Z around the new course, featuring sweeping, high-speed corners with plenty of helpful camber (check out the video above for a complete lap).

To participate, you’ll need to be over the age of 18 and a resident in one of these countries, then get yourself registered on the official site. The top 20 drivers as of April 17th in each region will move forward to their respective national finals. Even if you don’t make the cut, you’ll still receive this special-edition GT-R in GT5 as a gift for taking part. This year’s Academy also introduces a new “mini leagues” feature which enables you to easily compare your top laps with those of your friends.

GTPlanet’s new dedicated GT Academy (EU) 2011 Forum is already starting to heat up, so be sure to drop in join the discussion with your fellow competitors. Good luck, everyone!

Luis Ordonez, he's just been given an LMP2 drive at this years Le Mans.

Just had a quick ten laps, it's tough, tyres are crap and you cant reduce the rear brake balance which I do on every car so it's going to ake a while i get used to the braking. Stuck it in the top 150 but 6 seconds of top spot

I've just fired up GT 5 for the first time in a couple of months. After the epic wait for the massive download patches I'm about 15 seconds off!

Grrr!

i do the same with the brakes after you mentioned it here funnily enough. braking and turning in early is the way to go. the car tends to slide smoothly and its easy to maintain good speed without going too sideways.

I've been too busy in work to even have a go at this, and my wheel is on it's way to Fanatec for some TLC..

Since the first round ends tommorrow, did anyone post any times? was there an in-game leaderboard etc?

i played it every weekend for the first month but haven't touched it in 3 or 4 weeks. i was 25th at one stage very early on and 73rd now in uk/ireland. the amount of time some people put into it is borderline sad imo. 'vibralux' in 5th is daveyskills btw. he was running away with a lot of the first weekly time trials when the game came out.

leaderboard here: Rankings - GT Academy 2011 - gran-turismo.com
