In again.

Thoroughly enjoyed last week, especially after my last minute entry (literally!), and having a suitable car available in my garage (after adding the rollcage) and some settings donated by Wiggy, don't think i performed too badly at all. One 2 wheel moment in race 1 and a subsequent collision with the wall (36% front aero) and i thought i'd be dropping back quickly, but i kept Magic honest right up to the finish line.

Race 2 was very similar, but without the wall incident. Done on the inside by Totlxtc into the first corner, and then a race long battle with him and Stoney for 2nd-3rd-4th. Definitely had the beating of them through the corners, but the lack of straightline speed hampered my Volvo and i had to settle for 3rd behind Dan.

Hopefully next week will be different as i know i'll be entering, meaning i can re-do the build of the car rather than just rocking up with what i had, although with Mike AND Joe involved, 3rd is probably the best i can aim for again.

I'm hoping your experience of the 36% aero damage but still finding it competative means the cars generally will stand up to a little bump and grind, it may just be the Volvo and its super wide wheels though!

There is a power build in the Volvo, change to skinny tyres and drop out some of the race parts (clutch? Flywheel?) and the extra PI could push it the extra it needs.

For what its worth I'm going for a mid-build this week, around 50% downforce and drop a wheel width for some extra ooomph.

In other news my paint is coming along nicely, few things to refine on it and then I'll post it up as the first entry in the paint comp (originals only)

Yeah the aero damage seemed to have little or no effect, i even ran faster at times! If i'd sustained engine/front suspension/brake damage i think it would have been very different, in fact i'm amazed i didn't with such a heavy shunt!

My build from week 1 may actually prove to be close to right to be honest, maybe slightly more power to assist me on the straights. If i'd of been able to get past Dan in race 2 this week, i'm pretty sure i'd of been able to keep him behind me due to the speed i could carry through the corners. Just a shame Mike is too damn fast

To be fair with the Volvo there arn't that many configurations - I almost struggled to get the bhp above 350 whilst keeping the weight above 2500 but I do go for ultralight/grip first and power 2nd.

The Audi S4 is I'd say the most versatile,l and from Mike said the Holden has pretty much one configuration.

Joe's in a Toyota Altezza BTW

It might be a case of dropping a couple of tire widths and getting a few more hp in there if i can then.

Well the Altezza is a different choice, be interesting to see how it runs.

Same with my Bimmer. 394bhp stock and a requirement for race weight reduction to get it under 3500lbs limit the options. Have the choice of a couple of tyre widths and another 15 odd horsepower and that's it.

Volvo should be pretty versatile. Race weight reduction isn't mandatory so you can stick the aircon back in and run a load more power.

You got lucky there. From simulation damage experience elsewhere you are safe up to about 40% aero damage. That'll cost you up to 4 tenths a lap. Much more and it's like dragging a parachute behind you down the straights.

I really enjoyed the practice I did in it, but felt it a little lively?

I may need convincing on that, I'd rather race a superlight car in my underpants than a fast but heavy monster, kind of like James May in that Aston Martin!

No probs That tune BTW is a 'default' tune from Forza 2 that an old hand from FMUK donated I've been using it for years on Forza 2,3 and now 4 and it seems to work well enough to keep me on track!

My experience (and understanding) of the damage simulation is it will assign a random value to your aero as well as a slight increase in drag. This drag coefficient increases the more damage you get, very much an exponential curve.

The random figure on your aero can make you run better, as it may actually find a better setting that what you had when you set off from the start line.

Honestly putting the family before video gamers, terrible!

Don't forget, everyone drops their worst single result from each half of the season so a missed week or 2 won't affect you as badly as you think
