FMUK Open Cup Round 4

After a fragmented couple of weeks, the series remains in America for Round 4. We're travelling to the other side of the country for Round 4 which is held on the Road Atlanta Full Course. Round 4 is on Thursday 8th August at 9pm BST. If people can try to be online by 8:50 we have a good chance of getting this away promptly, hopefuly with none of the problems experienced in Week 1.


All drivers, except those shown below, will be on 500PI unless your car is listed in this thread:

Doony - Alfa Romeo GTV-6, 505PI

Smokinmasta - Citroen DS4, 514PI

Track: Road Atlanta Full
Laps: 36

The start procedure will be as follows. Drivers will form up in grid order at approximately 50mph on the run down to the second corner. Accelerate to racing speed out of Turn 2 (right-hand part of the chicane at the top of the hill). No overtaking until you have exited the left hand bend where the full course splits from the short course (Turn 6) unless the car in front of you goes completely off track. After that, it's racing as usual.

Drivers who competed in the series so far must run the same car, any new drivers to the series still have a free choice subject to the rules set out.

It is indeed, Road Atlanta is the last round of Season 1.

That said, I'm almost certainly going to give the FWDs and AWDs a bonus for season 2 to try to counterbalance the tyre wear issues which became apparent in Season 1.

It wont change the fact that tyres on the front wear twice as fast as the other cars though. Yes it might be 'easier' to drive once they wear, but you still lose 1 sec then 2 secs etc. In most cases the extra PI only gives more power as im maxed out on weight loss and tyre width already - so most likely just wear out fronts quicker

The theory sounds OK and would only work on a sprint race where pit stops arent required.

True, I don't think we'll ever get away from that. The theory behind the addition PI is that it makes the car faster early on, hopefully by enough to compensate for the time lost through wear forcing you into making two stops.

Of course, as always, the proof will be in the pudding, and I'll clarify over the weekend.
