FOC Round 5 - Silverstone

Qualifying
Spiny
Smokin
JohnG
Axiom (Decert)
Milton (Decert)

Race
Axiom
Spiny
JohnG
Smokin
Milton

I'll update the table tomorrow night.

PI for next week:
Axiom: 470
Spiny: 497
JohnG: 502
Smokin: 521
Milton: 503

Only 5 raced, but a cracking night's racing nonetheless. First stint saw me struggling with rear tyres which didn't hold their temperature or pressure and I dropped back, first behind Joe, then John and finally Smokin. Milton wasn't that far behind until he pitted at the end of lap 11, a strategy which ended his chances of a good finish.

At the end of lap 14 John dived into the pits with me closely following. As we emerged, Milton got past. Smokin pitted on lap 15, and the extra lap on worn tyres cost him valuable seconds leaving him last when he emerged. A bad set of tyres second stint hindered his chances of catching us as well. For a while, John and Milton pulled away from me, but as Milton's tyres wore down they both gradually came back to me. Eventually John got past Milton with me getting past a corner later. After that, there was next to nothing between John and me (always <150ft) until the end. One mistake from John let me through, but I was stuggling to hold him off as he had the slightly faster car.

Astonishingly close, racing, with next to no contact for a good 10, 2minute laps.

Best battle I've had in a very long time.

Well done all.

My car had a horrible set of first tires and also the car wasn't set up at all.

Quick 5 Min set up. Also maybe I should have had front aero too.

I need more powers tho

Nothing wrong with car .....you had 2nd or 3rd fastest time. You just had poorest strategy. Mine was 2nd poorest in that I fell over the 'cliff' tyre wise .....1 lap too many and lost 5 seconds if I had another lap I would have been mixing it with john and spiny Dammit......or as James may would say ... C0ck!

I had to try some thing as my first set were shocking. I was falling back in last on first stint think I slipped back to 1000

That lap I did was pure fluke on a decent laps

Think you were only about 400ft behind me when you went in (certainly I could see you in my mirror at times), although granted that probably translated into about 700ft behind smokin. And, while that 2:08 may have been a fluke, it was certainly quicker than my best time (even including the dirty ones) and was about a second better than my fastest clean lap. I suspect you'll be quick next week.

As John said, great close racing. Despite being in what felt like a race-long battle with him, and half-race battle with smokin, I still ended up with 0cr damage

To be honest, I don't think it was the time which hurt you, more losing track position. Before the pits you were ahead of me and I was struggling to close the gap, afterwards you were behind and dropping back. Still, could be worse - you could have had Warrior's pit crew from Race 1
