CALENDAR
Season 1:
Week 1 (4th July) - Suzuka
Week 2 (11th July) - Hockenheim National
Week 3 (18th July) - Infineon Long
Week 4 (25th July) - Road Atlanta Full
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1 week break
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Season 2:
Week 5 (8th August) - Silverstone GP
Week 6 (15th August) - Laguna Seca
Week 7 (22nd August) - Motegi East
Week 8 (29th August) - Nuerburgring GP Short

PRIZES

A unicorn car of the driver's choice will be available to a driver drawn at random who has completed 3 or more races in Season X.

In addition, a copy of a car of your choice from my garage will be available to the winners of each Season and the overall Cup if so desired. This can be a car on my storefront or one you've seen racing or elsewhere.

CARS

You may choose any car so long as it starts in F, E or D Classes. Be warned that the Hummer H1 and Nissan Leaf will not reach 500PI under the build restrictions. While you may use these, you will probably be at a performance disadvantage.

THE BUILD

Drivers should build their car to a maximum of 500PI for week one, apart from the cars listed below. The following parts are mandatory, anything else is up to you:

Drag Tyre Compound
Race Roll Cage
(Where this is not available, as for example on the Prius, drivers will need to use the highest available upgrade and advise the organisers prior to racing that the roll cage on their chosen car is not available)
No Drivetrain Swaps (This means if your chosen car starts as an FWD for example, it must stay FWD)

After each week, the PI available to each driver will be adjusted according to their finishing position. After week one only, the gaps between drivers will be 3PI, for all subsequent weeks the gap will be 2PI as below:
Median position driver (e.g. 5th out of 9 drivers) - no PI change
Driver missing a week - no PI change
Driver finishing ahead of median position - lose 2PI for every place above median
Driver finishing behind median position - gain 2PI for every place above median

I will post up the PI for the following week as soon as I can after the race so people have the maximum time available to adjust their car.

Exceptions to the 500PI starting level

The following cars will start at amended PIs to the default B500. If you choose one of the cars below, your maximum PI is as follows:

475PI:Cars under 1700lbs stock weight - Lotus Eleven, Austin Healey Sprite, Porsche 550, Lotus Elan, Alfa Romeo GTA,
490PI:Citroen C1, Chevrolet Spark, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo, All Mazda MX5s, Toyota MR-S
505PI: 4WD cars with a stock weight above 3500lbs - Alfa Romeo Brera, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Raptor

CHANGING CARS

Drivers are only permitted to change cars during the break between Seasons 1 & 2 and should announce their car choice prior to the start of Season 2.

When changing cars, the PI will remain the same unless either the new or old car is one of those mentioned above. In this case, the starting PI adjustment will be applied to the new car. A couple of examples below:

Driver A on 510PI at the halfway point changes from the Acura TSX (starting PI of 500) to the Lotus Elan (starting PI: 475). His PI for Week 5 at the start of Season 2 would be 485.
Driver B on 460PI at the halfway point changes from the Citroen C1 (starting PI 490) to the Alfa Romeo Brera (starting PI 505). His PI at the start of Season 2 would be 475.

If you do select a car in either season which has a starting PI adjustment, and you're not clear on your PI for Week 5, please ask and I'll let you know what to aim for.

SIGN-IN PROCEDURE

The sign in thread will go up approximately five or six days before the race. Each competitor should sign into this thread. The OP in the sign-up thread will show the maximum PI available to each driver for that week - you do not have to build your car to the maximum PI but it is recommended.

If a driver is unable to race in any one week, he should sign "out" in the sign-in. The driver's PI will remain the same for the following week.

Sign-in will close at 7pm on the day of the race. Drivers failing to sign in by 7pm may still be able to race subject to the organiser's discretion (which will be based mainly on the availability of lobby spaces - I'm aiming not to exceed 14 in a lobby to avoid instability). Drivers signing out may nominate their skipped car for that week up to the 9pm race start.

RACE NIGHT PROCEDURE

The host should aim to have the lobby up and running by 8:50pm at the latest to allow time for all competitors to enter the lobby. Qualifying will start at 9pm, or earlier if all competitors have entered the lobby. Any racers entering the lobby after qualifying has started will be required to start the race from the back of the grid.

The race will last for approximately 55 minutes subject to the conditions below. Each race will begin with a rolling start. The start position will be announced in that week's race thread and may not necessarily be the start/finish line.

LOBBY SETTINGS

QUALIFYING

Qualifying will be in the one-shot format. This means that qualifying will only last for two laps - one outlap plus one qualifying lap. You will be required to decertify your outlap to ensure that only your qualifying lap counts. To avoid numptyism, it is strongly recommended that you decertify your outlap prior to the last sector. The driver with the fastest qualifying lap will be noted by the host to allow the assignment of the bonus points.

PITS

There are no restrictions as to when, or how often a driver stops in the race.

INCIDENTS

All on track incidents involving significant aero damage (in excess of 40% to any one panel) to two or more cars on lap 1 will result in a restart. After Lap 1, a safety car procedure will be in place up 5 minutes into the race (see below).

Please note that this series is being run with limited damage and has quite long races. If you are the type of driver who likes to nudge the car in front or engage in a bit of side-to-side contact, you will almost certainly build up enough aero damage to reduce your performance later in the race thereby hurting your finishing position.

SAFETY CAR PROCEDURE

As stated above, the safety car will be used during the first 5 minutes only of a race.

The lead car will lead the pack around at a safe, steady speed not exceeding 50mph until the entire field is in line. Cars should maintain a safe distance to the car in front and should not engage in weaving or sudden acceleration of braking as this is likely to lead to accidents. Any drivers making a pit stop under safety car conditions must rejoin the field at the back of the pack.

When the last driver has caught up with the pack, he should wait until the field is on a straight before calling go. No overtaking is permitted until the exit of the first corner following the restart.

PENALTIES

In addition to any penalties imposed by the stewards, the following set penalties will be operating:

Failure to decertify qualifying outlap - Driver moved to back of grid. The driver in question will be required to safely make his way to the back of the grid prior to the rolling start.
Failure to finish race - Driver awarded last place finish. In the event of more than one DNF, places will be awarded in order of driver's leaving the lobby.

For all penalties, the stewards may look at amending or overriding the standard sanction if it is felt there are unusual circumstances.

POINTS
In the event of there being more than one lobby, there will be a 10 point bonus for each lobby below the lobby drivers are in, with the exception of week 1. For week 1, lobbies will be drawn at random. Subsequent weeks will be determined by the dreaded average points method. Points per race will be as below.

One bonus point will be awarded to the driver who heads qualifying in each lobby.

There will be no dropped scores in the individual seasons of the Cup. However, a driver's worst result will be dropped from the overall season result so only the best seven results will count towards the overall Cup Total.

Shanklin, as you've already picked it and to avoid messing up your preparations, the bit below doesn't apply to you - you can start with your MR-S at 500PI for week 1 if you want.

For everyone else, following last night's run, it seems the MR-S has similar pace to the MX-5. As such, this car has been added to the list of cars with a starting PI of 490.

Sorry for any confusion, there was always a chance that one would slip through the net. I'm not intending to alter the starting PI of any other car - the list in the second post is final, and any adjustment needed will happen naturally with the weekly driver PI adjustment.

Go for it Shanklin. The PI given out to each racer is a MAXIMUM PI available to them, so you can run the MR-S at 500PI if you want - it's fine by me and nobody else seems against it. Equally, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, the rules still allow you to run 490PI or the Alfa if you so wish.

The idea I wanted behind this series was a bunch of drivers bringing their own cars to the track to race. Not a team, no rules pertaining to which cars are allowed since everyone has their own car. Just rules to create a relatively balanced field. If you want an indication of the idea, think when Top Gear went rallycrossing, only with more of a budget.

Heck, you don't even need a race paint For example, if I run the Gremlin it will be in the hippie flower-power paint it's in now.
