I thought so too, I remember seeing it on some random documentary a while back. The pork sausages in my freezer are 42% Pork, so it's definitely not anything more than 40%?

I am pretty sure it is 40% but the 40% is usually all the off cuts, ie anything that can be minced.

Not necessarily. By law, sausages need contain only a minimum of 40 per cent meat, but "pork" can constitute up to 30 per cent fat and 25 per cent connective tissue and still be described as meat. Connective tissue can be fat, skin and gristle. Sausages can also contain pork cheek and jowl, home to the pituitary glands, where drug residue and disease are concentrated. Beef and lamb meat can contain up to 25 per cent fat and 25 per cent connective tissue. MRM cannot be labelled as part of the meat content.

I have just checked a box of catering sausage that i have in my freezer which i use for dog treats, it has 5% chicken liver in the list of sh1te

It's 42% for pork sausages and 35% for any other type of meat. However, as I said previously the 42 or 35 % can include 30% fat and 25% connective tissue.

Just reminds me of the old Simpsons episode where Apu's hot dog sausages are advertised as "Now 90% rectum free"

Just been to the freezer and Richmond sausages (which aren't anything like as nice as butcher's sausages by the way) contain 43% pork plus 8% pork fat. Doesn't say what proportion of that 43% is rectum though

Sausages from the likes of Lidl or Aldi are offically full of ****. Literally!!

I'm guessing 80% at least surely! Anything less than 50% and it's not a sausage!
