F1 changes in 2014

So the engine changes got put back from 2013 to 2014, and are now turbo V6's rather than flat 4's (still 1.6l). So rather than add to the 2013 thread I thought I'd start afresh with any news.

So to kick things off;
Quote:
Renault Sport's Rob White insists the new formula of engines for 2014 are still going to be "special" and has confirmed they will make a lot of noise.

In 2014 F1 cars will be powered by 1.6 litre V6 turbo engines with much more powerful energy recovery systems. The new units are expected to be just as powerful as the current V8s and, although they will rev to 15,000rpm instead of 18,000rpm, White is confident they will still attract attention.

I still think the 12000 rpm cars from yesteryear sounded great anyway - all that low-down growl and not the high pitched neeeeeeee that they are now.

I remember at Goodwood a few years ago, Honda had their 1965 F1 car on show, when they fired it up, I was deaf for a good 5 minutes after and the vibrations through the floor undid my shoe laces

Iīm sure the sound will be great!!!But i still donīt get why using such engines anyway!!??
They want to get cheaper...but how to get cheaper when thereīs a new engine to develop every few years???!!!Complete V6 drivetrain will cost about 20mio...current V8īs cost less than half of that...!!!
I would love to see 4,0l V8īs...and engines limited to 4 a season..!
