Sim Rig and hardware

Hello all!

I am curious about what kind of hardware most of you use for FM3, ie: seat/wheel, controller, monitor size, multi-monitor, shifter, etc.

I'll post my setup as soon as I can get my camera working again...

Cheers!

Good mixture TBH Theres a fair few wheel users with varying setups. Personally I favour the 'sat back on my ass with a controller'

I used to have a wheel on the PC a while back for rFactor, but not played that for 2 or 3 years now (and lost my code for the full game too ) - At the moment, I only really play on the Xbox with a pad. Once I'm at uni (hopefully next September), I'll probably look into getting another wheel and a decent set-up.

Ha ha, no I'm not the one to point out such mistakes! I understand what you meant now.

What kind of wheel would you buy?

Not really sure, always wanted a Logitech G25 or G27, but I'll probably end up just settling for something cheaper As long as it's not like the keyboard where it's either full lock or no steering at all, I don't mind.

As for hardware, just the controller and a 24" lcd screen. More than does the trick, although i am waiting to see about the new wheels coming out in the upcoming months to see if they are gonna be worth it (i know the Fanatec one is, but price is an issue). Then it will be all about seeing if i can get some sort of rig sorted.

My setup is either lounging back on the sofa with a 37" tv if using the pad or sat on a fake leather type office chair at my pc desk using a 22" monitor if using the wheel as i have been unable as yet to build anything suitable for the wheel to sit on that doesn't take up too much room (so end up mostly using the pad).

I used to rock a MS wireless wheel, with custom made stand (from old bookcase ) and fold-away picnic/deckchair. That used to ****ing hurt
But my wheel died
Into 26" LG HDTV.
I now just have a controller for xbox.

I have a Logitech Driving Force thingymabob that i use for PC on a 19" monitor on my desk. Play rFactor, Dirt 2 and Race 07 racing wise.
Not the greatest rig out there, but it runs those games very well, so will do for now

At the moment I use a wired 360 controller and a 28" LCD to play all my games on. Got a nice and comfy leather chair, which I nabbed off one of my flat mates as he doesn't have room for it Tried using his wheel, but I couldn't get to grips with it at all. Was some MadCatz thing, with a tiny wheel and supports to wrap around your legs/knees.

I have the microsoft FFB wheel (wireless my ****),

Coupled that with a 42" 1080p Toshiba Regza and Yamaha 7.1 dolby digital

The wheel is fixed to a stand and the pedals are screwed down, For ease of removal the wheel is held with a ratchet strap and some rubber strip as I will never forget FTCC qualifying when the wheel mount broke and I had to hold it with one hand

I use the pad for forza as the wheel punishes mistakes to readily.
F1 2010 thou that wheel was made for, Made the game for me that will did.

Mike could you give us some details of your rigs if you didnt already.
Some of the guys like Slim will recognize most of it but to me its a huge pile of shiny and I would love some info to go with those pics you posted.

If there is info already then I will catch on a re read later on, sorry

I have had a fanatec wheel back with thomas still 1.5 months now but am getting a new one as it had a manufacturing defect and im seeing if I can get a discount on a csr but anyway I digress .
Wheelstand is one of these
Amazon.com: XL22 Xlerator Regular Adjustable Stand for Fanatec 911, GT2 and GT3 Wheels: Video Games
42 " Lg Flatscreen tv with a 5.1 dolby prol;ogic setup down very low so as not to annoy the neighbours. Oh and I sit in a nice office chair.

Controller, 27" HD TV and 130 sofa bed from Tesco (surprisingly comfortable, and highly recommended - much better than the more expensive stuff).

As you can probably tell, the living room is still being refurbished so it'll be a while before I get a wheel.

Yeah, no problem! I guess since I started this thread...I could contribute to it, LOL! I'll take pics of my XB/PS3 rig and also give some descriptions of my PC setup in a bit.

Thanks everyone for your submissions! It amazes me how many different ways there are to do this and I enjoy looking at the different approaches.

Cheers!

Good m8 - very quick to use as you'd expect being a querty one. Most buttons have triple function by pressing a green key on the bottom left which does the charactars marked in green, and an orange button on the right does the ones marked in orange .
Does make it quite a bit heavier but dont notice it now to be honest
Shift key as normal etc etc. Also has instant MSN launch key...........
