FM4 Escort Cosworth Grp N

As I mentioned wayyyyyyy back when we though we were getting the Escort along with the RS500 id like to propose a semi fixed build GRP N style cup for the Cossie 'scort'

Build would be along the lines of:
  • Full weight reduction
  • Sport suspension
  • Race brakes
  • Sport ARB's
  • Cage
  • wheels - perhaps 2 styles only (chip in here, but must be same weight)
  • Slicks
  • 1.5 way diff
  • Race paints and all the usual bits and bobs
The idea being allowing a little tweaking but without it becoming a tuning comp - from the mods you can adjust tyres, brake balance and pressure, diff adjustment.
Im hoping theres a little more tweaking allowed in lobby settings which can apply some minor penalty options such as 10kg etc rather than % hp....
But alas atm its all guessing to whats actually in there

3 shorter than our norm races (circa 10mins 2 races and feature 3rd).

Random grid race 1. Race 2 finish order from race 1. Race 3, reverse grid rolling start, forced pit stop between x lap and x lap

Calender to be agreed/discussed

Discuss please................

If I could suggest that we only visit real world tracks?

Also having the same track for the three races. That way when the reverse grid comes in, It's purely on driver skill for that track.

With the sport bits you wouldn't need a tune. About the only thing you can tweak would be tyre pressures.

And if we put forza wings into the build too? Then you could also adjust aero.
So only a little adjustment to play with, not enough to get you into trouble so to speak.
Tyre pressure, im guessing, this time around may well effect tunes MUCH more than 3 due more realistic tyre modelling that weve heard such about
But well see eh

There's usually four levels of suspension bits. Stock, Street, Sport and Race which correspond to Road Car, Stiffer, Stiffest, Fully adjustable.

Group N is a 80s/90s class for standard production cars with limited modifications that could be raced/rallied. Usually stripped out and rollcaged cars with a relatively standard engine and heavy duty suspension bits that were affordable to run in club motorsport. Group A was the full house turbo nutter loadsamoney version.

Looks like this will be a Sunday, as Smokin is available to race/run it then. There are midweek events in planning already, though, so you aren't going to be left raceless. I'll see if there's some way of getting competitions to come back on different days, so more people have the chance to experience them.

Im going to make up an EVO VIII in the same vein and send out to 1 or 2 who can pass on.
We can give this a quick go over some nights when peeps are up for it in one of the fun lobbies on a few tracks and see how it looks if you like??
I know its not the same but in theory its very similar??!!

From my point of view fixed build comps attract more competitors as results are more down to driver skill than tuning skill. It's also easier to arrive and drive having only done 10 laps of practise.

I'm sure there will be events that will allow build to PI, but in this case it would fly in the face of the Grp N concept. Now if someone were to run a Grp A type event with a power limit and PI restriction...

I know I for one would drop out if it was about tuning.

Done a WRX04 instead and sent out to a few peeps also free on SF (so buy and apply to a new car, remove tune, then re-apply parts and tweak as you feel ie reverse engineer) those i have sent to feel free to pass around as i just sent to random peeps, sorry

Anyway Scotty - Exactly as the chaps said below you.....
Trying to meet halfway between fixed build and the nightmare that is a tuning/race/build comp. The over whelming majority prefer a fixed build but a decent minority want a free build, so this is trying to bridge the gap in a small way due to limitations of the forza franchise.
I suppose another option would make it so tight that being a 'tuning expert' wont help a great deal.....
What i mean is a very tight weight band and HP limit and fixed limitations such as sport tyres (visable on replays), cage, Varis body kit for example, Volks TE37's etc.?????
Keep it going chaps - its all theory until we know exactly how 4's PI sytem and lobby options are going to work. You never know it might have exact HP and weight limit options

I got a well painted scooby. It's too pretty to give away, sorry!

Having a look at the build there's too many race parts for my likings. While I'm keen to get into tuning and the lure of a new FM will help me invest my time I'd rather have a gentle learning curve. Don't want to get overwhelmed on day one.

Perhaps drop the race suspension (toe, camber, damping etc are confusing) and have the diff as a 1.5. Keep aero, breaks and gears tho. These are easier to understand and with community support we can get more racers ready for suspension tuning in the next series ramping up to full tune/build comps further down the line.

This alongside with @Tak s RWD/FWD comp will be teaching two things I lack. RWD ability and tuning from the get go of FM4.

Edit: Re-read OP, this is just my two cents on what I would prefer.

WTF did i send you!!!???
1.5 diff and sport suspension only should be on the build??!
Only adjusts are tyres, overall gear ratio. 1.5 diff allows only 1 slider on front and back.....

That should be it adjustable-wise. Sport tyres +1 width up @235, 3rd stage weight off not full, no adjustable aero (and didnt really need it TBH), air filter, zaust and IIRC sport flywheel.....

***edit - i've sussed it. Youre looking at the Gift CAR i sent you with the gold Top secret paint job?? That was for S1 paint.

Tune only sent out tonight was for WRX 04 which i MAY have sent you or not!!??......

Cracking build Smokin very enjoyable around camino though It did feel slow but that could be me not driving for nearly 2 weeks.
