New Car Opinions

So it's time for the tired old X Type to go, and get something more exciting. After much browsing, research and drooling. I've narrowed my new car down to the following.

Budget is 10k ish.

BMW Z4 3.0i
BMW Z4 Coupe (my favourite at the minute)
Audi TT (maybe a 3.2.. though only in the list as it's slightly more practical than the above)
Alfa 159 Ti ... The most sensible car here, and only cos it's an Alfa, as such much be included in any list.

I'm favouring the Z4 Coupe the most, it's much better looking than it's roadster counterpart, has a great engine and quite reasonable to run. Only thing that puts me off, it one will drive past me with the roof down on a nice day, and I might regret it.

Thoughts please

Can't really give you any opinions as not driven (or really even been interested in) any of them. But to give you a couple of thoughts to help you down the Z4 Coupe rather than convertible route.

1 - The coupe will be a much nicer place to be on the 95% of days when it's p***ing down or freezing.
2 - Nobody ever slashed the roof of a coupe
3 - It is very difficult for any man, especially aged 40 or over, to look anything other than a knob in a Z4 convertible. (If you're going bald, this applies doubly so as it will give you an instant combover)
4 - I'd also agree about the looks. There's something which appeals about the Z4 coupe, even though some of the proportions look a little off. Then again, I did also like the look of the Z3M Coupe.

yep... I think it's going to be a coupe. Hopefully will get to go and look at a couple on Sunday and test drive etc. Not an easy task, as they are quite rare, so its gonna be a fair trek just to get to the nearest one. Saying that, I've got no shame in driving a roadster. Had a couple of MR2's in the past, and had the roof down on a sunny day in January many a time

Out of my budget... but it's nice. Looked at a mk3 2.0, get a really nice one for the 10k mark. But it's not that much cheaper in terms of mpg, road tax than the 3.0si Z4.. only in that there's oodles of power and noise from that straight 6
